visual direction

As a Visual Director, I translate marketing objectives for products, projects, people and brands into visual narratives. Sometimes, it's a magazine, sometimes it's an Influencer, but the goal is always the same: to create a visual story that is representative of the person, project, brand, campaign or feature.

I design a creative brief that becomes the guiding document for production teams and corporate employees. I direct and encourage teams of junior stylists, photographers, designers and hair/make-up artists in the production of compelling narrative-driven fashion and lifestyle social-first photo, video and graphic assets.

The client brief:

Eklectik Magazine is a style, home and lifestyle online publication for those who blend out. The magazine wanted to do an editorial feature on Influencer and stylist, Vic Styles. Vic started her career as an intern for Rachael Zoe. She, then branched out on her own, eventually styling A-list celebrities.  Eklectik Magazine needed imagery to represent the profile with Vic. We would visuals that represent the strength and perseverance that it has taken Victoria to get to where she is now, doing brand collaborations with Barney's New York, at 30,000 followers on Instagram and launching a new project in the fall. The only thing that we really are stuck on is that the location for the shoot is in the desert.

THE CREATIVE BRIEF:

My process includes project research, concept, and delivering a creative brief based on the client objectives.

For Forty Acres and a Muse, I wanted to convey Vic as a visionary, a conqueror who attributes her success, in large part, to the collective of ancestors that roam about the earth. Vic has certainly got next! The vision that we set out to frame a visual narrative that shows trails, signifying pathways that represent Vic's journey to the top.

The styling for the shoot was pulled from historical female warriors who have defeated oppression of any kind -- the corset representing battle armor, the red dress representing victory and confidence and the floral arrangements in Vic's boots signifies the peace that Vic has now found in her successful blog.
